Jimi Deja has been in the music & entertainment industry for some 20 years… being only 33 years old you may think how is that possible? It is – but its a long story…
The past 12 years have seen Jimi Deja become an influential part of the scene in Ibiza, as both a DJ & entrepreneur. Playing alongside the world’s top Dj’s in the major clubs on the island including Eden, Es Paradis, Privilege, Amnesia and El Divino, as well as many of the smaller, more intimate and select venues has brought Jimi alongside the world’s top DJs – Ferry Corsten, Judge Jules, Boy George, Mylo, Micky Finn, Andy C and many more.
Starting out as a DJ in the early 1990s has given Jimi the opportunity to develop many influences and styles, leading to involvement with may different Brands and projects including Helter Skelter, Déjà Vu, Innovation, Big Reunion Winter Festivals, Meganite (Mauro Picotto) Subterrenea, Gatecrasher, Hed Kandi and many more, including a few highly individual projects such as hosting his daily radio Show on BBC White City at the age of just 16.
Jimi’s wide-ranging DJ background gave him an instant start in Ibiza in 2000, with a residency at the legendary House Club ‘Simples’ in San Antonio, and led to involvement with the cutting edge Tech-Trance venue ‘Nightlife’. Such an introduction to the constantly changing crowds in Ibiza has been an invaluable education, developing Jimi into the extremely versatile DJ that he is now.
Not one to let the dust settle, and whilst already playing for some of the major Parties and Clubs on the Island, Jimi embarked on a new Project in 2002, his first as a promoter in Ibiza – Déjà Vu… In conjunction with the Original Helter Skelter Brand – A Brand known world-wide as the Pioneers of the original Rave Culture in the UK – Déjà Vu was hosted every Sunday at Es Paradis, and saw Jimi the return to his musical roots alongside Old Skool legends Rapack, Slipmatt, Vibes, Micky Finn, Ray Keith and many others. An outstanding success with 1500+ people flooding through the doors each week, the project expanded in the following year to include Mondays at the mighty Pacha Nightclub in Majorca.
Well known in Ibiza for seamlessly fusing all styles of House music, whilst keeping a crowd on it’s toes with unexpected elements of Drum & Bass, Old Skool, breaks and Trance also featuring in his sets, Jimi’s experience and mixing creativity enables him to deliver a set that captivates his audiences time and time again.
The last 6 years (2005 – 2010) have seen Jimi create and develop his newest project in Ibiza – Hush. Opened in 2005, Jimi set out to make Hush stand apart from the other Bars and Clubs in Ibiza, and by picking up the coveted ’Best Bar’ award in 2005, voted No.1 Bar by M8 Magazine in 2007 and winning ’Best Bar’ (again!) in the 2008 Awards is confirmation that he had succeeded.
As the Resident DJ and promoter of hush, Jimi has worked tirelessly to bring new brands to his loyal and dedicated crowds, including Krafty Kuts, Filthy Gorgeous, La Vita, Elektrik DJ and many others. No doubt a major part in the success of Hush is the DJ booth. A creation that has never before been seen in Ibiza, the first 6 Deck booth with twin mixers, with it all on moving rails. Designed and built exclusively by Jimi, it re-defines the visual imagery of a DJ at work, and of course watching Jimi use his own creation is watching a true master at work.
